MCMINNVILLE, Ore. — The Linfield Wildcats surged to their best start in nearly two decades, improving to 6-0 for the first time since the 2005-06 season with a dominant 73-53 win over Corban on Tuesday night at Ted Wilson Gymnasium.
Linfield's efficient offense was the story of the game, as the Wildcats shot a remarkable 51.9% from the field and converted 60% of their three-point attempts. The team also capitalized on all 13 of their free-throw opportunities, showcasing a well-rounded and dominant scoring attack.
Eve Burke led the charge with 14 points, adding five rebounds and two steals in 31 minutes.
Amelia Solt chipped in 13 points, highlighted by three three-pointers, and distributed three assists.
Gillyan Landis delivered an all-around performance, tallying 11 points, seven rebounds, and two assists while making 80% of her shots.
After coming from behind to take the lead just before halftime, the Wildcats took control of the game in the fourth quarter. Linfield hit three straight three pointers to open the final period and never looked back. The Wildcats' offense exploded for 25 fourth quarter points and pulled away for another victory by double digits, their third of the season.
Miki Vermeulen was a key playmaker, contributing 10 points, five assists, and four rebounds along with three points, while
Allie Mead added eight points, six boards and three assists.
Tana Hoekema provided a spark off the bench, going 4-for-4 from the free-throw line en route to six points and four rebounds.
Linfield's defense held Corban to 35.2% shooting and forced 13 turnovers, converting those into 14 points. The Wildcats dominated the paint with 39 total rebounds, including 12 on the offensive end, leading to nine second-chance points.
