MCMINNVILLE, Ore. - In a tough battle at Ted Wilson Gymnasium, the Linfield Wildcats fell to the Redlands Bulldogs 90-73 Tuesday night. Despite a strong second-half surge, the Wildcats were unable to overcome a challenging first half, which saw them trailing 40-23 at the break.
the Wildcats were paced by Dayton Magaña, who finished with 18 points and three assists.
Max Juhala recorded 14 points on 7-of-9 shooting while
Garrett Callsen poured in another 12 points down low.
Cade Collins three steals and defensive efforts helped set up multiple fast breaks for the Wildcats. Nathan Mattera also had a solid outing, contributing 8 points, with 2 made 3-pointers.
In the second half, Linfield found its rhythm offensively, shooting 67.8% from the floor (19-of-28) and 50% from deep (5-of-10). However, the Wildcats were unable to overcome 30 turnovers and Redlands remained efficient, shooting 50% from the field, and 80% from the free-throw line (4-of-5), sealing the victory.
Callsen led Linfield in rebounds with nine while
Cayden Lowenbach chipped in six and
Josh Ryan added five. Lowenbach also displayed his court vision Tuesday night with a team-high four assists.
Omari Ferguson led the Bulldogs with 21 points, shooting 7-of-11 from the field, including 1-of-2 from beyond the arc, while also contributing 4 rebounds and 3 steals. Dayvon Gates added 14 points, and Jake Hlywiak chipped in 12 points and 5 rebounds. Redlands dominated the glass, outrebounding Linfield 51-32, and capitalized on 30 points off turnovers, helping them maintain a lead throughout the competition.
