KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Linfield came up short against Oregon Tech on the road Friday evening, dropping the contest 107-75 at Danny Miles Court. The Wildcats, now 1-3 on the season, were outshot 59.4% to 32.3% from the field, including a 42.9% to 24.2% deficit from beyond the arc.
Linfield's offense was led by Dayton Magaña, who scored 26 points, including three 3-pointers. He also contributed 11 free throws on 14 attempts. Magaña was supported by
Cade Collins, who added 15 points, going 4-for-11 from the field and 6-for-6 from the charity stripe.
Josh Ryan had a solid all-around performance, contributing 9 points, 3 assists, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals in 30 minutes of play.
Despite a valiant effort from the backcourt, the Wildcats struggled to match Oregon Tech's offensive efficiency. Linfield finished with 21 field goals on 65 attempts, including 8 from deep on 33 tries. The Wildcats were effective on the boards, grabbing 26 rebounds, 13 of which were offensive, but were outmatched by Oregon Tech's relentless second-chance points resulting from 19 offensive rebounds for the Owls. Linfield also totaled 13 assists, with
Zach Luz contributing 2, while keeping turnovers to a low six.
The first half saw Linfield trail 51-41, with Oregon Tech's hot shooting from the field and the free-throw line giving them an early lead. The Owls shot 57.1% in the first period, including 33.3% from beyond the arc, while the Wildcats struggled to find their rhythm, shooting just 42.4% overall.
In the second half, Linfield's shooting woes continued, while Oregon Tech improved to 62.1%. Oregon Tech continued to dominate in the paint, outscoring Linfield 54-18 inside.
