NEWBERG, Ore. – The Linfield men's soccer team played to a 1-1 tie Sunday afternoon visiting their cross-county rival George Fox.
The match went scoreless through the first 45 minutes, with Linfield (0-4-2, 0-1-1) totaling eight shots to the Bruins' (2-3-1, 1-0-1) five.
The Wildcats got on the board early first early in the second half when
Sid Kosaris notched his second goal of the season, unassisted, in the 52
nd minute.
The Wildcats maintained a lead for the next 28 minutes while facing increased aggression from the Bruin side, which fired off 10 shots in the second half.
But eventually George Fox broke through to even the match at 1-1 in the 80
th minute on a strike by Eugen Peltier.
Linfield was unable to muster another shot through the closing stages, but maintained the draw by fending off two late attacks in the final two minutes.
Freshman
Colby Reese made his second consecutive start in goal for Linfield, making three saves on 15 shots faced in 90 minutes between the posts.
Always an impassioned affair between when the two Yamhill County teams meet, 23 fouls and six cautions were issued through the course of the match.
On the day Linfield totaled 11 shots with three on goal and created four corner kicks. The Bruins ended with 15 shots with four on goal and created two corners.

The Wildcats now set their sights on earning their first Northwest Conference win Saturday in Portland visiting the Lewis and Clark Pioneers (0-1, 0-5), who are in their first season since 1991 as a full NWC program.
From there Linfield will host seven of its next eight matches in McMinnville, beginning Sunday against Pacific Lutheran (3-1-2, 2-0).
