PORTLAND, Ore. – Everything came together for Linfield on Saturday evening against Northwest Conference foe Lewis & Clark at Griswold Stadium. The Wildcats (1-4-2, 1-1-1) goal contributions came from five different players in a 5-0 thumping of the Pioneers (0-6-0, 0-2-0).
Linfield totaled 16 shots, 14 on goal, six corner kicks and a season-high six assists.
Sam Haynes,
Patrick Moes,
Sid Kosaris,
Johann Singh Sanchez and
Anson Agapay combined for all five Wildcats goals.
Angel Hernandez led the 'Cats backline playing all 90 minutes while
Colby Reese tallied four saves on eight shots faced.
The Wildcats had a flurry of goals come in the first half. Haynes scored first in the 16th minute and was followed only a few minutes later by goals from Moes and Kosaris.
Cameron Gaines,
Aedan Carroll, Moes and Haynes all accounted for an assist in the first half.
The next two goals in the second half came less than 10 minutes apart when Singh Sanchez and Agapay scored in the 77th and 85th minutes. Both goals were assisted by
Luke Smith.
The Pioneers finished with eight shots, four on goal and three corner kicks. All but five of the Lewis & Clark starters played all 90 minutes with Nathaniel Pi-Sunyer leading the way offensively tallying two shots on goal. Declan Cloutier totaled nine saves on 16 shots faced.
