'Cats cruise to shutout win at Puget Sound

TACOMA, Wash. – The Linfield women's tennis team earned its fourth straight win Sunday morning at Puget Sound, beating the Loggers 7-0.

Only two doubles flights and five singles flights were played due to a lack of active players for Puget Sound (0-11, 0-7).

Linfield (9-2, 5-1) did not drop a set the entire match. It was the fourth shutout win for the Wildcats this season and their third in Northwest Conference play.

DOUBLES
The 'Cats cruised through the two doubles contests, taking both 8-0.

In the No. 1 flight Allena Wong and Lexie Matsunaga dominated Puget Sound's Paige Shinall and Marissa Perez 8-0 while Taryn Fujimori and Emma Tuttle dismissed Chloe Ivy-Curwen and Hyla Chatham.

Both Linfield duos improved to 5-2 as teams on the year, both pairs picking up their third straight wins.

SINGLES
With Linfield clearly holding a significant advantage, head coach Tessa Kern chose to rest top singles players Matsunaga and Fujimori.

Sarah Forester stepped into the No. 1 spot in the lineup for the first time in her career and came away with a win over Shinall, 6-3, 6-2.

Forester now holds a team best seven wins in singles matches this season.

From there Linfield only allowed the Loggers to pick up six games through the final four contests.
