Wildcats' top duo earns All-Northwest Conference recognition

Linfield's top doubles team of Kaitlynn Canubida and Samantha Baltz were announced as members of the 2026 women's tennis All-Northwest Conference team Friday as the league released its annual award winners.

Canubida earned second-team all-conference recognition in singles while both juniors were named third-team selections in doubles after competing together the majority of the season.

Canubida, out of Mililani, Hawaii, played the entire season as Linfield's No. 1 entry with eighteen matches under her belt at the top of the lineup this year, even after starting the season playing through injury. She picked up four wins and regularly pushed some of the league's top talents to tiebreaks and third sets.

She earns her second career all-league selection after being named to the second-team last year as a sophomore.

Baltz earns her first career honor alongside her teammate on the doubles third-team.

The Rio Rancho, N.M. product spent most of the second half of her season battling injury as well but still managed to compete with Canubida in 15 matches, all as Linfield's top doubles pairing.

The duo earned three wins together on the season, while Canubida also won two No. 1 contests next to fellow junior Emily Redwood while Baltz was sidelined.

In addition to her strong doubles play Baltz also led the Wildcats with six singles wins on the year, all in the No. 2 spot in the lineup, including winning two of her final four matches to end the season.

While rolling out the all-conference teams the NWC also announced Pacific's Cassidy Binder as the league's Player of the Year, Whitworth's Faith Kert as Rookie of the Year and John Hein of Whitman as the 2026 Coach of the Year.
