NEWBERG, Ore. – The Linfield men's tennis team found themselves shut out 9-0 on Sunday, falling to the George Fox Bruins.
The loss dropped the Wildcats' record 3-9 on the year and 1-4 in conference play. The Bruins improved to 11-5 and 6-0 in the Northwest Conference.
DOUBLES
Linfield was overmatched by George Fox from the beginning, with
Matous Young and
Rogue Stone falling to Rox Rogers and Ryan Olson 8-2 in the No. 1 doubles flight.
Nick Gabelman and
Cody Pickar were blanked in the No. 2 flight, losing 8-0 to George Fox's Camden Camacho and Vahag Pashayan. The third flight saw
Seamus Miller and
Isaac Milner fall 8-2 to Alle Banna and Jackson Whittaker, setting the match score at 3-0 at the conclusion of doubles play.
SINGLES
Stone found some success in the No. 1 singles flight against Rogers, forcing an extra game in the first set, but eventually falling 7-5, 6-2. He was the only Wildcat to win more than two games in singles on Sunday.
Young faced the Bruins'
Luis Rojas, rested from sitting through doubles, in the No. 2 flight and fell 6-1, 6-1, clinching the win for George Fox with the score at 5-0.
In the third flight Pickar only picked up one game against Pashayan, falling 6-1, 6-0, as did Milner in the fourth, falling 6-0, 6-1 to Camacho.
The No. 5 flight saw
Alexandre Collard fall 6-2, 6-0 to Banna, and the match concluded with
Abraham Solomon getting shut out by Hunter Fujimori 6-0, 6-0.

The Wildcats will wrap up their regular season next weekend at home, hosting the Whitman Blues 4-11 (3-1) on Saturday, April 9 at 1:00 PM and the Whitworth Pirates 2-13 (2-2) on Sunday at 10:00 AM.
