Linfield softball chases another title against Pacific

THE RECORDS
Linfield remains atop the Northwest Conference standings at 29-7 overall and 21-3 in NWC play. Pacific sits in fifth place at 10-24 overall with a 9-15 NWC mark.
 
LINFIELD AT A GLANCE
The Wildcats swept Puget Sound last week, winning three of the four games via eight-run mercy rule. The series included a combined no-hitter in the opener by Tayah Kelley and Cheyenne Datan. Kelley was named the NWC Softball Pitcher Student-Athlete of the Week for the fifth time this spring after she struck out a combined 25 batters while allowing just one run on one hit against the Loggers. She fanned 12 in the five-inning no-no. Kamryn Mobley leads the team with a .414 batting average and five home runs while Claire Seats has driven in 37 runs. Katie Phillips is batting .392 with a team-leading 51 hits and 15 doubles.
 
PACIFIC AT A GLANCE
The Boxers are looking to snap a four-game losing streak after being swept by Pacific Lutheran at home. Rylee Patton has started in all 34 games. She leads the team with a .435 batting average, 47 hits and 30 RBI. Michelle Winfield (.329) and Annika McNeel (.317) are also batting above .300 for the Boxers. Winfield has scored 23 times. Samantha Pettit is 10 for 12 on stolen base attempts. Nine different players have seen action in the circle this season. Patton has tossed 67 1/3 innings in 16 appearances and 14 starts. She owns a 5.72 ERA.
 
THE SERIES
Linfield and Pacific have met 114 times. The Wildcats won 92 of those games. The 'Cats are 50-11 against the Boxers at home and 41-11 in Forest Grove. Linfield is riding an 11-game win streak against Pacific. The 'Cats swept the season series in 2021, outscoring the Boxers 43-9.
