McMINNVILLE, Ore. - After a successful non-conference stretch that saw Linfield lacrosse win four straight matches, the Wildcats are back in Northwest Conference play to host Whitworth at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Linfield Lacrosse and Soccer Complex.
Due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols, Linfield's match against Whitman scheduled for Saturday has been postponed. The match will be made up at a date to be determined.
THE RECORDS
Linfield enters the week with a 5-4 overall record after claiming four straight non-conference victories, which includes a 3-0 Spring Break trip to Kentucky. The Wildcats are 1-3 in Northwest Conference play. Whitworth is 3-4 on the season with a 1-2 NWC mark.
LINFIELD AT A GLANCE
The Wildcats are riding a four-match win streak with a home win over Augsburg and three road wins in Kentucky over Centre, Asbury and Georgetown College.
Amelia Wright was named the NWC Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week after scoring 10 goals and dishing out an assist.
Bethany Shade earned Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week honors after finishing with seven goals, 17 caused turnovers, 14 ground balls and 25 draw controls.
Abby Ross has 22 goals, 10 assists and 56 draw controls while
Lizzy Harms is 5-2 in goal.
WHITWORTH AT A GLANCE
The Pirates went 1-1 in Texas last week, losing 21-4 at Southwestern before bouncing back to top Dallas, 18-5. Madison Perry leads the team with 14 goals on 30 shots, 27 on goal, while Anna Chase has 10 goals. Perry also leads the Pirates with 32 draw controls. Kenzie Hemman has a team-leading 13 caused turnovers and 19 ground balls. Sage Fosnock is 1-1 in goal with 17 saves and a 12.85 goals against average.
THE SERIES
Linfield has won all five meetings with Whitworth since the Pirates' inaugural season in 2019. Three of those matches took place in McMinnville. The 'Cats are averaging 20 goals per match in the series. They won both matches in 2021 by scores of 22-5 and 19-5 in Spokane, Washington.
