McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Linfield and Eastern Oregon were tied at halftime, but the Mountaineers dropped 53 points in the second half to down the Wildcats, 92-79, in an exhibition game Tuesday night at Ted Wilson Gymnasium.
Linfield took advantage of its 16 offensive rebounds with 27 second chance points. The Wildcat bench scored 35 points while the team scored 34 points in the paint.
On the night, the Wildcats shot 47.5 percent from the field, 36 percent from three-point range and 70 percent from the free throw line. They made seven shots from beyond the arc in the first half but made just 2 of 10 from deep in the second half.
Three Linfield players scored in double digits. The offensive effort was led by 18 points from both
Jackson Dupree and
Jacob Hjort. Dupree connected on 7 of 10 from the field and added five rebounds, three assists and two steals. Three of Hjort's six field goals came from behind the three-point line. Danilo Petrovic finished with 11 points, five rebounds and a block in 17 minutes off the bench while
Reece Gibb scored eight points.
Trey Bryant led the 'Cats seven rebounds and five assists to go with his seven points. Logan Morrill was second to Bryant in both categories with six rebounds and four assists.
Eastern Oregon knocked down 62.3 percent of its shots, including 57.9 percent from long range. The Mountaineers made 15 of 17 free throws, 11 coming in the first half. Seven of their 11 three-pointers came in the second half.
A bevy of Mountaineers scored in double figures. Malachi Afework led the way with 17 points on 5 of 9 shooting with six made free throws. Preston Chandler put up 16 points and four rebounds while Phillip Malatare had 15 points, two rebounds, three assists and three steals.

The 'Cats (0-1) will make the trip down to California for the UC Santa Cruz Classic. They will play the host Banana Slugs at 7 p.m. Friday at Kaiser Permanente Arena. They will close the weekend against Caltech at 4 p.m. Saturday at West Field House.
