McMINNVILLE, Ore. – The Linfield Wildcats dominated the stat sheet but couldn't get back in the win column in a 1-1 tie with the Pacific Boxers Sunday afternoon at the Linfield Soccer and Lacrosse Complex.
The Wildcats took twice as many shots as the Boxers, finishing with 14 shots, five on goal. Eleven of those shots came in the second half. The 'Cats also had seven corner kick opportunities to the Boxers' one, but the Pacific defense didn't concede to force the 'Cats to settle for their third straight draw.
Emily Hyde entered the match off the bench and notched her first collegiate goal to put Linfield ahead in the 36
th minute.
Kathryn Pearson was credited with the assist.
Sidra Griffin connected with a darting Pearson on the right side of the pitch. Pearson took the ball into the box before finding Hyde just outside the six-yard mark. Hyde had a quick first touch before firing the ball into the back of the net. She registered two shots on goal in 37 minutes played.
Ellie Friedrichsen,
Janae Lewis and
Izzy Chauls also had two shots each for the 'Cats.
Reese Jones played the full 90 minutes while
Bella Hanna saw 84 minutes of action.
With just under 11 minutes left in regulation, Pacific's lone corner kick paid off. The corner went off the head of a Linfield player and bounced off the crossbar, allowing the Boxers' Brooklyn Yano to put away her header.
