Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Linfield puts up 15 shots in 3-0 loss to Whitworth

McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Linfield had a few good looks, but Whitworth left with a 3-0 win over the Wildcats Saturday afternoon at the Linfield Soccer and Lacrosse Complex.

Whitworth outshot Linfield 16-15, 13 of those shots landing on goal. The Wildcats put six of their 15 shots on goal. The Pirates held a slight advantage in corner kicks with four compared to the Wildcats' three.

Savannah Acpal scored her third goal of the season in the 23rd minute. She picked up the assist from Kalena Pfaeltzer in the middle of the box and fired the ball into the bottom right corner of the net for the first score of the match. Pfaeltzer dished out another assist in the 54th minute, connecting a long pass to Baylee Trejo, who dribbled past Linfield goalkeeper Emilee Miller for an easy tap-in goal.

The Pirates added another insurance goal in the 88th minute, courtesy of Camryn Gardner's unassisted score. All three of her shots in the contest were on goal.

Nine of the Wildcats' 15 shots came in the second half, but the ball couldn't find the back of the net. The 15 shots are the third-most by the 'Cats in a single match this season.

Sidra Griffin and Janae Lewis led the 'Cats with three shots and one shot on goal each. Their three shots were tied for the match high with Gardner. Kami Echiverri came off the bench to lead the team with two shots on goal in 60 minutes.

Griffin logged 81 minutes while Bella Hanna and Reese Jones played the full 90 on the backline. Miller finished one save shy of her season high with 10 on 16 shots faced. She is 2-5-4 in goal with 44 saves.
