Beacons take the matchup over the Wildcats

MCMINNVILLE, Ore. – Taking on the Bushnell Beacons at Ted Wilson Gym on Tuesday night, the Linfield Wildcats fell 76-60, but outscored the Beacons in the second half.
 
Linfield started the game leading 8-2 on a 3-pointer by Maggie Smith, but Bushnell went on a 10-2 run to take a 12-10 lead and ended the first quarter leading 19-14.
 
The Beacons shot 73.7 percent from the field in the second quarter, scoring 31 points, compared to 11 for the Wildcats. Bushnell had 11 steals in the first half.
 
Delaney Ragan hit two 3-pointers in the third quarter and had eight total points to help the Wildcats outscore the Beacons, 19-12 in the quarter.
 
Linfield got a spark in the fourth quarter thanks to five points each from Jordan Worthington and Mariah Ohman as well as a field goal from Ti'Anna Bruce to cut it to 68-58 at the 3:42 mark in the fourth quarter on a layup by Shasta Lofgren, but Bushnell extended its lead to 16 by the end of the game.
 
Ragan had 15 points off the bench for the Wildcats. Lofgren and Smith had seven, Alexis Heald had six and Brooke Landis had five. Janessa Yniguez had four as well.
 
Heald led the team with five rebounds, Ohman had four, Ragan had three, she also had two steals as did Lofgren and Peyton Bergevin.
 
Every Wildcat that was dressed on Tuesday night played at least six minutes.
 
For the Beacons, Morgan McKinney had 14 points, Kaylen Kamelamela had 12, Aspen Slifka had 10 and Libby Mathis had 10 as well. Kayce Mock had six rebounds and five steals. Slifka had two blocks. McKinney had four assists.
 
Beacons shot 55 percent from the field and outrebounded the Wildcats, 36-24.
 
The Wildcats fall to 1-8 on the season, the Beacons are 9-2.
