'Cats storm back, but fall to the Warriors

SALEM, Ore. – Down by 16 points at halftime, the Linfield Wildcats came up just short of the Corban Warriors, who won 72-65 at the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center on Thursday night.
 
The Warriors led 43-27 at halftime. Jordyn Feinauer had eight points in the half. Shasta Lofgren and Maggie Smith had four rebounds each, Smith had four assists as well. For the Warriors, Gemma LaVergne hit three 3-pointers and had 11 points.
 
Linfield cut the lead to 58-47 in the third quarter on a layup by Delaney Ragan, who had 10 points in the third quarter. Corban led 61-51 after three quarters.
 
A 3-pointer in the fourth quarter from Feinauer cut it to 61-54 at the 8:08 mark in the fourth quarter. The Wildcats got even closer to the Warriors when an and-one by Ragan made it 64-60. With Corban leading 66-63, a 3-pointer from Smith went in-and-out.

Ragan had 23 points in the game and three rebounds. Lofgren had 12 points, six rebounds and three assists. Feinauer had 11 points, four assists and three steals. Smith had six rebounds and three steals as well.
 
The Warriors were led by a triple double from Halley Wright, who scored 18 points, 13 rebounds and 12 assists, which was the first triple-double in program history. Shaelie Burgess had 12 points and nine rebounds. LeVergne was limited to just three points in the second half, she had 14 points in the game.
 
Corban grabbed 17 offensive rebounds and outrebounded Linfield, 41-28. Corban also outshot Linfield, 46 percent to Linfield's field goal percentage of 39.7.
 
Linfield falls to 1-9 on the season, having lost five straight, Corban improves to 5-4.

Linfield has two more games left in the regular season, both are against Pacific. The Wildcats host the Boxers on Senior Day on Friday, April 23 and conclude the season at the Boxers on Saturday, April 24.
