Linfield lacrosse falls 18-6 to George Fox

MCMINNVILLE, Ore. – Playing the George Fox Bruins at the Linfield Soccer & Lacrosse Complex for the second straight day, the Linfield Wildcats fell 18-6 to the Bruins on Sunday morning.
 
The Wildcats are 0-2 in Northwest Conference play, while the Bruins are 2-0. Linfield is playing a conference-only schedule in 2021.
 
Careligh DeLapp scored the first goal of the match less than 30 seconds in for the Bruins. The Wildcats tied it one at the 27:46 mark on a free position shot by Josie Duey. George Fox closed the half on a 7-2 run and added 10 goals in the second half.
 
Duey was the lone Wildcat with more than one goal, she had two. Bethany Shade, Maia Rezoski, Jenna Hessel and Emma Vande Brake had a goal each. It was the first goal of her young career for the freshman Vande Brake.
 
DeLapp led the Bruins with four goals. Marena Tharpe, Kyra Barnes and Madison Strickland had three apiece. In the cage for Linfield, Roldan-Rayo made nine saves. George Fox's Ella Rand made eight saves.
 
George Fox had the 34-21 shot advantage, Linfield claimed 15 of the 25 draw controls in the match. The Bruins cleared the ball in 19 of the 20 tries, the Wildcats were 7 for 20 in clear attempts.
 
DeLapp, Payton Bergren and Rand had five groundballs each, the Bruins as a team had 28. Linfield's leaders in groundballs were Maia Rezoski and Madison Hicks, each had four. Linfield had 19 groundballs as a team.
 
Shade won seven draw controls, Duey won five. Shade was also the team leader in caused turnovers with three. Duey was two for four in free position shot attempts.
