Inches saves six in loss to Willamette

MCMINNVILLE, Ore. – Julian Inches made six saves in the Linfield Wildcats' 1-0 loss to the Willamette Bearcats at the Linfield Soccer and Lacrosse Complex on Sunday.
 
The loss drops Linfield to 2-4-0 on the season, Willamette is 5-0-0 and beat Linfield on Wednesday night by a score of 7-0. The two teams meet again in the season finale in Salem, Oregon, on April 4.
 
Pierce Galloway scored the lone goal of the match in the 40th minute, it was unassisted and it was his second goal of the season. The Bearcats had 17 shots. Pierce had four, Sean Kim had three and Simon Kidder had three as well.
 
Inches made three saves in each of the two halves. Ryan Kister and Cesar Cruz-Espindola had two shots each.
 
The only shot on goal came from Cruz-Espindola and was saved by Anthony Richard-Bassett, who played the first half. Pierluca Carnovale played a clean second half in goal, facing no shots on goal.
 
Three yellow cards were handed out in the first half. Linfield's Logan Clizer and Max Testa as well as Willamette's Abdul Ali was cautioned in the first half. Connor Heintz was carded in the second half. The Bearcats had 12 fouls, the Wildcats had 11.
 
Bearcats had the 17-6 edge in shots and 8-2 edge in saves.
