MCMINNVILLE, Ore. ā In the regular season opener, the George Fox Bruins downed the Linfield Wildcats, 1-0 on Sunday at the Linfield Soccer & Lacrosse Complex.

Both teams had a physically aggressive type of play, combining for 18 fouls, the Bruins committed 13 of those fouls.

Luke Hamocon scored the only goal of the match in the 23
rd minute. It was unassisted and just off the reach of
Julian Inches, who saved one of the two shots he faced on goal.

Linfield had six shots on goal, all were saved by George Fox's Cole Benton.
Cesar Cruz-Espindola had two of the best scoring opportunities for the Wildcats, but Benton was there for the save.

Freshman
Seamus Miller in his college debut and first start, also had two shots on goal. He led the team with three total shots. The Bruins' Jackson Keller and Hamocon had two shots each.

The two Yamhill County teams will meet once again in Newberg on March 14. This spring season, the Northwest Conference schedule is limited to eight matches against the three other NWC schools that offer a men's soccer program.

This was the first regular season match coached by
Andrew Duvall, who comes to Linfield from Concordia-Portland.

Along with Miller,
Max Testa also made his first career start, while
Brady Anderson and
Angel Hernandez made their college debuts, coming in as substitutes.

Linfield had the clear edge in corner kicks, 5-1 and total shots, 9-6.

George Fox's Robert Rodarte and Jamie O'Connell picked up yellow cards in the match. Ā
