Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Wildcats wrap up season with 1-0 loss to Pirates

McMINNVILLE, Ore. – It was as action-packed as a 1-0 match gets as the Linfield women's soccer team fell to Whitworth on Senior Day at the Linfield University soccer and lacrosse complex.

The two teams combined for 41 shots with Whitworth outshooting Linfield 24-17. The Pirates had 12 shots on goal to the Wildcats' six. The Pirates fired off 18 of their shots in the second half to keep the pressure on the Wildcat defense.

Kalena Pfaeltzer scored the lone goal of the match for the Pirates in the 19th minute. Linfield junior goalkeeper Erin Isbister saved a shot on goal by Whitworth's Kalle Crouch and Pfaeltzer picked up the rebound to send it in for her fourth goal of the season.

Freshman defender Jildou van der Sluis finished with a match-high seven shots for the 'Cats with two shots on goal in 81 minutes. Junior forward Laney Green had three shots.

Isbister made 11 saves in her third appearance of the season. She played the full 90 minutes off the bench after entering for senior Alyssa Bakkensen just seconds into the match.

The 'Cats celebrated six seniors on Sunday in Bakkensen, Ava Dumler, Ashley Guldager, Laura Hoover, Ariel Miyama and Maddie Serafini. All six started the match.

Linfield finished its season with a 4-14-2 overall record and a 3-12-1 Northwest Conference mark under head coach Steve Simmons, who wrapped up his second year of his second tenure at the helm.
