WHY LINFIELD? I was very nervous to leave Colorado, but as soon as I stepped foot on campus, I realized it was like a second home. Linfield offered me the chance to study to become a teacher, and continue playing soccer at the next level.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A STUDENT-ATHLETE AT LINFIELD? I love how small the campus and student population is, because it makes you feel appreciated. When I first visited, professors dropped what they were doing just to chat. It made me feel valued, and I think that's unique compared to bigger universities.
WHAT MAKES YOU INTERESTING AS A STUDENT-ATHLETE? I have always been an advocate for women's rights on and off the field. In the past year, I headed a project to raise money for Girl Up, a UN organization that works to empower girls. I also raised money and donations of feminine hygiene products for homeless women, and donated over 100 boxes of pads and tampons to a local shelter. I take inspiration from women like Mia Hamm and Brandi Chastain, as they paved the way for powerful women through the 1999 Women's World Cup.
WHAT IS NEXT AFTER LINFIELD? My dream has always been to become an elementary teacher like my mom. Linfield will help me become certified, and I love that there is even a preschool in the education building! I truly value working with kids.
WHAT IS THE BEST CLASS YOU’VE TAKEN AT LINFIELD? Education 150 was a very influential class for me. I've always said that I want to be a teacher but I started having natural doubts when it was finally time to take classes in my field. My professor and the content reminded me why I am so passionate about education.
WHEN NOT COMPETING IN SPORTS OR STUDYING FOR SCHOOL, I LIKE TO SPEND MY FREE TIME…Hiking, mountain biking, swimming or skiing. I love spending time outdoors, I think it’s in my blood coming from Colorado!
THE GREATEST LESSON THAT I’VE LEARNED WHILE COMPETING IN ATHLETICS AT LINFIELD HAS BEEN…Trust the process. There are highs and lows in my athletic career just like there are highs and lows in life, but in the end, I am playing to have fun and enjoy the experience.
WHAT HAS BEEN THE HIGHLIGHT OF YOUR LINFIELD CAREER THUS FAR? Getting to meet all of the amazing girls on the team was incredible. I'm constantly surrounded by people who bring out the best in me, while also inspiring me to better myself.
