SPOKANE, Wash. – Goals scored in the 29th and 30th minute propeled Whitworth to a 3-2 Northwest Conference victory over the Linfield Wildcats Saturday on the Pirates' home pitch.

1st Half
Linfield started very aggressive, taking five shots to Whitworth's two. On only the Pirate's third shot, Michelle Whan slipped the ball past Wildcats goalie Madi Reimer for the first score. Fifty-six seconds later, Kelly Wucherer pushed in her third goal of the season, using a sliding kick that found the top-right corner of the net. Linfield freshman Kristen Burke made the score 2-1, taking a long pass from Sydney Kuehn to set up on a one-on-one opportunity with the Pirate goalie. It was Burke's fifth tally of the season.

2nd Half
Whan pocketed her second goal of the match in the 55th minute, dribbling past multiple defenders and then placing the ball into the back of the net with a shot from the deep-left corner. Linfield's Emma Smith scored in the 80th minute on a penalty kick, a result of a Pirate hand ball in the box. Linfield fired off four shots with the score 3-2, but the 'Cats were unable to find the back of the net in the remaining minutes.

Leading Wildcats
Reimer faced 12 shots on goal, making nine saves. Smith led the team with five shots to go along with her one goal. Burke generated four shots on net and Kuehn also attempted four shots.
