SALEM, Ore. – The Willamette Bearcats scored a goal in each half to earn a 2-0 Northwest Conference shutout of the Linfield Wildcats Saturday afternoon at soggy Sparks Field.
Both teams attempted eight shots but the hosts got goals from Shanna Keil 10½ minutes into the opening half, then added a second-half insurance goal when Emmy Manset connected on a shot at the 84:15 mark.

The match was evenly played. Not only did both teams attempt the same number of shots, both clubs earned four corner kicks.
Sydney Kuehn took five of Linfield's eight shots, four of which were on frame. Freshmen
Michayla Sponsel and
Emma Smith added single shots.
Madi Reimer made three saves in goal for the Wildcats. Kristen Barclay produced six stops for the Bearcats.
Linfield played the match using just 13 players, compared with 21 for the Bearcats.
Where they stand
Linfield slipped to 4-6-1 in the NWC and 6-8-1 overall. Willamette raised its record to 7-3-1 in the conference, 10-3-2 overall.
