McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Linfield women's soccer (2-1-0) dominated the game from start the finish as
Julia Alvarez scored early in the second half, while the Linfield defense held tough to give the Wildcats a 1-0 victory over Corban.
Linfield controlled much of the action throughout the match, outshooting Corban 22-2 while putting 11 attempts on goal. The Wildcats also generated 13 corner kicks, including 10 during a scoreless opening half.
The breakthrough came just 1:08 into the second half. Alvarez found the net for her first goal of the season off a pass from
Lena Caballero Uhtoff, giving Linfield the advantage. The back line of the 'Cats only allowed two shot attempts in the game, earning themselves and Zahajko the clean sheet.
Sydney Garner led the Wildcats with five shots, three of which were on goal, while Alvarez finished with three attempts and two shots on target.

Melania Valdez,
Sofia Pietrok and
Addie Eakin each recorded two shots as Linfield consistently pressured the Corban defense.
Tati Zahajko handled the limited opportunities that reached the other end, making one save to complete the shutout. Zahajko joins Maddy Funk with one clean sheet each to start the season.
The 'Cats now head to Walla Walla this weekend, taking on UW-Stevens Point in a neutral site match on the Whitman campus.
