McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Nearly 1,000 athletes from both near and far gathered Saturday at Linfield University's Maxwell Field to compete under ideal conditions as part of the Jenn Boyman Memorial Invitational track and field meet.
WOMEN
Wildcats freshman
Sage Cramp posted a Northwest Conference-best effort of 11 feet, 9 inches in the pole vault, topping a field of 18 challengers while surpassing her previous best mark by two inches.
Isabella Grutsch clocked a new personal-best time of 14.80 seconds in the 100 hurdles to take third place.
Natasha Freimuth ran the 400 hurdles for the first time this spring, placing fifth among 19 entrants in 1:06.45.
Jayden Taylor placed third among nine athletes in the 3,000 steeplechase with a new season-best effort of 12:19.98.
Linfield's two relays each recorded top-five finishes. The 4x100 relay, composed of Freimuth, Grutsch,
Baylie Thompson and
Paige Kasso, placed fifth with a new season-best time of 49.45.
Lauren Klopcic and
Jordan Hayes teamed with Freimuth and Grutsch on the 4x400 relay to register a new season-best time of 4:13.97, placing fourth.
Away from the track,
Savannah Filios registered a new personal best, tossing the hammer 130-3 to claim ninth place.
Sophie Hulke was 10th in the same event with a mark of 126-10.
Among the jumpers, Thompson was third in the long jump with a new personal best of 17-9½. Grutsch captured eighth, jumping 17-6¼.
Logan Roberts went 4-11¾ in the high jump to lock up sixth place. Freshman
Mada Lee leapt 34-10½ in the triple jump, good for seventh place.
MEN
Linfield's 4x100 relay, featuring
Kekai Macabio,
Charles Dayton,
Davidson Kathman and
Liam Christensen, enjoyed the greatest success for the men on the day. The foursome placed first overall with a season-best showing of 42.41. The 4x400 relay, made up of
Finley Wodke,
Mason Bowles, Kathman and Christensen, scored a sixth-place result in 3:33.06.
Christensen sprinted to a second-place field in a crowded field of 86 challengers in the 100 dash in 11.07 seconds.
Competing against 39 others,
Hudson Holzhauer earned fifth place in the hammer with a heave of 161 feet, 5 inches.
Kiyan Vrell hurled the javelin 184-0 to place fifth among 27 entries.
Shyson Cachuela went 46-6¾ in the shot put to place sixth.
COMING UP
The Wildcats travel the short distance to Monmouth Friday and Saturday to compete in the John Knight Twilight meet hosted by Western Oregon University.
