SPOKANE, Wash. --- Linfield women's lacrosse (5-8, 3-2 NWC) fell behind in the second quarter of Sunday's game at Whitworth (6-7, 2-2 NWC), unable to overcome the early deficit, 18-4.

The Pirates wasted no time, getting out to a quick 2-0 lead less than 30 seconds into Sunday's match. Senior
Gabby Crist earned a free position attempt with 9:16 left in the quarter, scoring her 35
th goal of the season to make it 2-1 Whitworth.
Â
Linfield's one other shot in the first quarter was also a free position attempt form Crist, but that was stopped short. Meanwhile, Whitworth scored late in the quarter, taking a 3-1 lead into the second.

The Wildcats two shots in the second quarter were halted by the Pirates goalkeeper, but the defense was unable to slow Whitworth, going on to score seven in the second and take a 10-1 lead into halftime.

Playing a man-down for the game, Linfield's offense continued to go through Crist, scoring a second free position goal to begin the scoring in the third. Whitworth scored four in the quarter, while
Maizri Chandler got on the stat sheet with a goal after
Savannah Irwin's shot missed the target wide, 14-3 Pirates after three.

Crist picked up her third and final goal of the game, once again while a woman-down, but the Pirates lead proved to be too large, taking an 18-4 win over the Wildcats on Sunday.

Whitworth's stout defense allowed just 11 shots from Linfield in the game, the majority of which coming from Crist and
Savannah Irwin, with Crist tallying three of the 'Cats four goals while also causing a team-high four turnovers.
Grayce Miller led once again with four ground balls, trailed closely by
Madison DeLaTrinidad,
Savannah Irwin and
Gabby Crist with three each.Â

Goalkeeper
Tenley Hodge was unable to match her season-best performance a day ago, still recording six saves on 38 total shots faced.
