LOS ANGELES, Calif. --- Linfield women's lacrosse (3-7, 1-0) closed out the non-conference portion of their schedule against Occidental (6-5), outscored 14-7 as
Madison DeLaTrinidad matched a career-high with three goals.Â

Occidental took the opening draw control into the offensive zones, scoring on their first possession halfway through the shot clock to take a quick 1-0 lead. The Tigers scored three goals inside the first three minutes of the game, grabbing the momentum early on.

Apple Riso's shot missed high.
Savannah Irwin dished the pass to DeLaTrinidad leading to the score, earning Irwin an assist. After a Tiger's goal shortly after the Wildcats broke the ice, Irwin slotted home a free position shot, in the hunt trailing 5-2 after the first quarter.

Following a green card issued to DeLaTrinidad, Occidental scored on the power play to open the second quarter.
Maizri Chandler found DeLaTrinidad with 9:39 remaining in the half to make it 6-3 and give the junior her second goal of the game. The Linfield defense stood tall for the majority of the second, sending the game to halftime trailing 7-3.

Linfield was unable to fire a shot until 1:07 left in the third quarter, meanwhile Occidental extended their lead to six.

Apple Riso to score on their first shot of the quarter, 9-4 Occidental with 15 minutes to play.

The offensive woes for the 'Cats early on in the final quarter, trailing 11-4 before Linfield broke through with an offensive stretch of three goals in under three minutes. Crist struck first with her first goal of the contest, winning the ensuing draw that led to her earning an assist on a secod Riso goal. Chandler won the next draw control that led to a third goal by DeLaTrinidad as well as a third assist for Crist, making it 11-7 with 7:53 left in the game.

Occidental locked in to withstand the Linfield push, scoring three more times to take the game, 14-7.Â

DeLaTrinidad's three goals led the team, taking just four shots, all of which were on-target. Her three goals are her first of the season and tied a career-high set last season. Crist had three assists and a goal of her own to lead the team with four points in the game. Goalkeeper
Tenley Hodge made nine saves on 37 shots faced, also picking up a team-best three ground balls.

Women's lacrosse completed their non-conference schedule on Thursday evening, now shifting their focus to seven remaining Northwest Conference games. The 'Cats host Pacific Lutheran and Puget Sound next Friday and Saturday at the Linfield Soccer/Lacrosse Complex.Â
