Women's jumpers, men's sprinters, pave the way at Rich Allen Classic

NEWBERG, Ore. – The Linfield women were led by a cadre of jumpers, and the Wildcat men leaned on their sprint corps, highlighting a solid day of performances Saturday at the Rich Allen Classic, hosted by George Fox University at Stoffer Family Stadium.
 
MEN
The men's 4x400 relay, featuring Kekai Macabio, Finley Wodke, Luke Niemi and Liam Christensen, recorded a season-best time of 3:25.93 to finish atop five other foursomes.
 
Christensen was runner-up in the 100-meter dash, clocking a personal-best 10.85 seconds. Christensen also placed fourth in a crowded field of 33 challengers in the 200, recording another personal best of 22.48.
 
In the throws, Shyson Cachuela tossed the discus a personal best 138 feet, 9 inches, placing fourth. The senior also placed fifth in the shot put with a mark of 47-3. Hudson Holzhauer placed third among 22 competitors in the hammer throw with a mark of 165-11.
 
Freshman James Bethune leapt 42-8¾ to claim third place in the triple jump.
 
WOMEN
Baylie Thompson took second place in the long jump, soaring 17-4¼. Sage Cramp was runner-up in the pole vault with a season-best of 11-3 while teammate Analissa Paresa was third at 10-9. Logan Roberts went 5-1¾ in the high jump to claim fourth place. Also earning a second-place ribbon was newcomer Mada Lee in the triple jump (34-2¼). Jordan Roberts was close behind in third place (33-10¾) and Anna Niyongabire followed in fifth place (33-1¼).
Nathasha Freimuth was fifth in both the 100 (13.14) and 200 (26.92).
 
Lauren Klopcic ran to a third-place showing in the 400 hurdles in 1:11.50, just ahead of Klaira Flatt's fifth-place effort of 1:15.01.
 
Jayden Taylor timed 12:34.96 to place fourth in the 3,000 steeplechase. Jasmine Solso was fifth (20.36.43) and Mya Budzik sixth (21:08.33) in the 5,000 run.
 
In the throws, Islee Siliga hurled the shot put 37-5¼ to log a new season-best mark.
 
The women's 4x100 relay, comprised of Freimuth, Thompson, Paige Kasso and Marley Ells, placed second in 43.42. The 4x400 relay, which included Ells, Klopcic, Freimuth and Thompson, ran 4:14.86 to placed second overall.

The Wildcats return to action Friday and Saturday in Corvallis where they compete in the the Oregon State PNW Invitational.
