NEWBERG, Ore. – The weather was ideal Saturday for outdoor track and field competition and the marks reflected the conditions at the Rich Allen Classic hosted by George Fox University at Stoffer Family Stadium.
Linfield student-athletes achieved numerous personal- and season-best marks at the meet, which featured 12 collegiate teams plus a handful of unattached individuals.
MEN
Nick Olsen was crowned champion in the shot put with a mark of 50-6¼.
Andrew Troeh leaped a season-best height of 6-1¼ in the high jump to place fourth.
Luke Niemi recorded a personal record mark of 51.27 in the 400 dash, placing fourth. In the 800 run,
Conner Dooley ran 1:56.53 to earn fourth place while
Alex Oathout was second in the 1,500 in 4:04.10.
Freshman
Jacob Tabares ran a season-best time of 11.06 in the 100-meter dash to place sixth overall. The Linfield freshman was also runner-up in the 200 dash in 22.2.
The Wildcats' foursome of
Mason Bowles,
Liam Christensen, Dooley and Niemi teamed up to win the 4x400 relay in a season-best time of 3:26.72.
WOMEN
Newcomer Natalia Freimuth ran a personal-record time of 1:09.67 to take top honors in the 400 hurdles.
In the pole vault, freshman
Analissa Paresa soared 10-6 to place third overall.
In the 200 dash,
Paige Kasso clocked 26.90, just barely edging teammate
Rachelle Silis' time of 27.01 to place fourth and fifth, respectively. Both were season-best efforts.
Linfield's 4x100 relay, comprised of
Taylor Roles, Kasso, Silas and
Jordan Hayes, raced to a winning time of 51.17.
NEXT
Kira Hawaaboo is set to compete for a national championship in the women's long jump Friday at 9 a.m. as part of the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships in Rochester, New York. Hawaaboo enters the meet ranked third nationally.
The remainder of the Linfield track and field team heads to Eugene Saturday to compete at the Lane Community College Open starting at 10 a.m.
