Magaña puts up 19 in loss to Lewis & Clark

PORTLAND, Ore. — Linfield dropped a tough contest to Lewis & Clark, 80-71, on Saturday afternoon at Pamplin Sports Center. Despite a strong second-half effort, the Wildcats couldn't overcome the early deficit, falling to 7-16 overall and 4-10 in Northwest Conference play.
 
Linfield was led by Dayton Magaña, who scored a team-high 19 points, including three three-pointers, and added an assist. Cade Collins contributed 12 points, six rebounds, and three assists, while Max Juhala added to his promising freshman campaign with 14 points, five rebounds, and three assists. Garrett Callsen was efficient off the bench, scoring eight points on a perfect 3-for-3 shooting and grabbing three rebounds.
 
The Wildcats struggled early, trailing 39-28 at halftime after shooting 44% from the field in the opening period. However, they rallied in the second half, outscoring Lewis & Clark 43-41, thanks to improved shooting and a more aggressive offensive approach. Linfield shot 50% from the field in the second half, including 5-of-12 from beyond the arc.
 
Percy Whittaker III provided a spark off the bench with seven points and three rebounds, while Zach Luz added three points in nine minutes of action. Despite the loss, Linfield's bench outscored Lewis & Clark's reserves 39-22, highlighting the team's depth.
 
Defensively, the Wildcats forced 10 turnovers and recorded six steals, with Jack Greenwood grabbing two steals. Cayden Lowenbach also added two points, two rebounds, and a block in 17 minutes of play.
 
Lewis & Clark was led by Sam Henderson, who scored 20 points, including three three-pointers, and Isaac Ticeson, who added 18 points and 10 rebounds.
