Women's soccer earns 3-0 shutout over the Pioneers on senior day

MCMINNVILLE, Ore. --- Linfield women's soccer (9-5-5, 7-5-3 NWC) celebrated senior day in a big way, taking down the Lewis & Clark Pioneers (3-11-5, 3-8-4 NWC) with a 3-0 shutout victory. Seniors Jocelyn Jacobs, Jenna Stanley, and Ruby Lacktrup scored the three goals, while senior Alexa Fritz earned yet another shutout.

The Wildcats earned four corner kicks in the first five minutes, highlighted by an attempt from Amalia Tufts that sailed just high in the third minute. Defenders Reese Jones and Sofia Pietrok anchored a sturdy back line that limited Lewis & Clark's chances, while Alexa Fritz made key saves in the 22nd and 34th minutes to keep the match level. Garner tested the Pioneers' keeper with a low shot in the 42nd minute, but Lewis & Clark's defense held firm through the first 45 minutes as the team's entered halftime locked at 0-0.

Linfield's breakthrough came just five minutes into the second half. In the 50th minute, Jocelyn Jacobs buried a shot from close range following a corner kick to put the Wildcats ahead 1-0. Jacobs found the loose ball in the box, firing home the go-ahead score. The goal sparked Linfield's momentum, as the Wildcats began to dominate.

Eighteen minutes later, Linfield doubled its advantage. Defender Jenna Stanley pushed forward and finished a header off of a corner kick, with midfielder Mia Curtaz earning the assist.

Ruby Lacktrup sealed the result in the 78th minute with her third goal of the season, firing home after collecting a pass near the top of the box. The Wildcats continued to push forward late, while Fritz preserved the clean sheet with two second-half saves.

Linfield outshot Lewis & Clark 19-8 and held a 9-3 edge in corner kicks. Fritz finished with four saves in goal, earning another shut out to her season total. Stanley, Jacobs, and Lacktrup provided the goals, while Curtaz contributed with an assist, leading the team on the season. Garner and Tufts combined for five shots to lead Linfield's attack, and the Wildcats' back line—anchored by Jones, Pietrok, and Stanley—limited the Pioneers to just four shots on target.

Linfield women's soccer honored 10 seniors prior to the match: #1 Alexa Fritz, #7 Reese Jones, #10 Mia Curtaz, #11 Kamahie Samudio, #14 Jocelyn Jacobs, #17 Emily McGuire, #18 Jenna Stanley, #22 Ruby Lacktrup, #24 Sofia Pietrok, and #27 Lize Rendon.
