MCMINNVILE, Ore. - A cold and cloudy afternoon at Linfield University proved to be an equal representation of Monday's match for the Wildcats who struggled to find their footing, falling to the Warner Pacific Knights 3-1 at the Linfield Soccer Complex.
Linfield started slowly on the defensive end, giving up two first-half goals before settling in and allowing just five shots in the second-half. Unfortunately for the Wildcats, one of those five shots sailed through the hands of goalkeeper
Colby Reese for the Knights' third goal of the match. Reese recorded three saves in the loss.
Offensively, Linfield was led by senior midfielder
Cameron Gaines who secured the Wildcats' lone goal of the match to go along with three shots.
Sid Kosaris,
E.J. Sablan and
Luke Smith also finished Monday's match with three shots of their own.
Antonio Ciprian, Chanin Orlandin and Abe Fuchs accounted for the Knights' three goals.
The 'Cats brought several players off the bench including
Anson Agapay,
Sam Haynes, Johann Sanchez,
Evan Stafford,
Oli Gaines,
Marco Orlando, and
Luke Smith.
