Linfield loses defensive battle against Pacific

FOREST GROVE, Ore. - After falling 4-1 to Pacific earlier this season, Linfield came into Wednesday's match itching to avoid a season sweep from the Boxers. Despite their best efforts, the Wildcats lost 1-0 in a defensive battle at Hanson Stadium, extending the losing streak to five matches. Linfield now sits at 0-2 in the NWC.

The lone goal of the match came late in the first half off the foot of Pacific's Aidan Heflin. The Wildcats' second-half aggression allowed them to better set up the offense, getting three of their five shots and all five corner kicks in the final 45 minutes.

E.J. Sablan led the Wildcat offense with two shots while Cameron Gaines, Ross Vargo and Keegan Brooks each recorded one. Brooks, Gaines, Vargo, Angel Hernandez, Sam Haynes and Sid Kosaris played all 90 minutes of the match for Linfield.

Defensively, Colby Reese once again led the way for the 'Cats with two saves and 90 minutes played.

For the Boxers, Aidan Heflin scored the match's only goal and finished with two shots. Goalkeeper Zach Aderinto saved four shots from hitting the back of the net.
