MCMINNVILLE, Ore. - Linfield capped off an impressive week where it tied the defending national champions in California Lutheran before notching an impressive 2-1 win in its Northwest Conference opener against Pacific at the Linfield Soccer Complex on Sunday afternoon.
The Linfield offense got started early with
Julia Alvarez scoring before
Sofia Pietrok netted her first goal of the season late in the first-half to give Linfield a 2-0 lead.
The Wildcats held on throughout the second-half despite a strong offensive push from the Boxers who totaled four second-half shots and scored one goal from a penalty kick by Ivette Garcia-Gomez.
Linfield saw contribution from all over the field with

Jocelyn Jacobs,
Jordan Stoner,
Sofia Pietrok,
Julia Alvarez and
Jenna Stanley accounting for 11 Linfield shots.
Alexa Fritz played all 90 minutes in goal and finished with two saves, bringing her season total up to 13.
