FOREST GROVE, Ore. - When Linfield and Pacific last met, the Wildcats pulled out a gritty 2-1 win to secure their first Northwest Conference win of the season. On Wednesday night, however, The Boxers were able to halt the Linfield attack and win 1-0 in a defensive battle at Hanson Stadium.
The game-deciding goal for the Boxers came just before halftime as Makaila Takahashi fed the ball to Chanyn Santos who sent the ball straight into the back of the net.
Linfield recorded a season-low in shots with two, coming from
Julia Alvarez and
Amalia Tufts. The 'Cats were unable to test the Pacific goalkeeper, registering no shots on goal. This offensive struggle is uncharacteristic for a squad that averaged 13.4 shots per match before Wednesday night.
Goalkeeper
Alexa Fritz finished the match with two saves, bringing her season total to 15.
Aside from the goal from Santos, Pacific had just two other shots. Gwendolyn Saing and Cyd Sugiyama each recorded one.
