McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Six runs across the final two frames guided Bushnell to a 10-6 victory over Linfield in nonconference action on Tuesday evening at Roy Helser Field.
In limited appearances this season,
Grant Knox and
John Over combined to pitch the first seven innings. The duo gave up four runs while racking up seven strikeouts.
Charles Gargus (0-1) was tagged with the loss after giving up two earned runs and two walks.
Jake Hoskins,
Trent Wainfeld and
Wyatt Hurley each tallied two hits while
Elijah Maris mashed his seventh home run. Wainfeld and Holm have recorded a hit in seven straight games. The two sides tied with nine hits each.
Cade Crist and Max Richards led the Beacons' offense (26-20) with two hits apiece. CJ Smith crushed a two-run home run in his first plate appearance of the season. Garrett Vohs earned the win (1-1) after hurling an inning of relief work. The Beacons deployed eight total pitchers.
The Beacons and Wildcats plated one run each in the first inning. Linfield's two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning brought the score back even at four a piece. Wildcats pitching struggled to find the strike zone in the eighth frame. Linfield surrendered three walks leading to four runs.
Bushnell added two more runs in the ninth inning off the bat of Smith. The 'Cats scratched across two runs in the bottom half of the ninth inning before a Bradon Woods groundout ended the late Linfield push.
