WHAT ARE THE REASONS YOU CHOSE TO ATTEND LINFIELD? I chose Linfield because of the first-class coaching staff and the high expectations that Coach Spencer has set for the team. I also chose to continue my athletic journey here because of the storied past that the program has.

WHAT DOES BEING A STUDENT-ATHLETE AT LINFIELD MEAN TO YOU? Being a Linfield student-athlete means that there is very little time to be wasted. The coaches and professors seek the best out of you every day and it can be tiring, but it is very rewarding at the end of each week.

HOW HAS PARTICIPATING IN SPORTS MADE YOU A BETTER PERSON? Participating in sports has taught me to get up every time you get knocked down. It has prepared me for every setback and success that I have had in baseball as well as in life. The game makes you appreciate the little successes that you and your team accomplish. You learn to have the back of the people that depend on you.

WHAT’S THE BEST LINFIELD CLASS YOU’VE TAKEN? Organic chemistry was the best class that I have taken at Linfield because it showed me that I can accomplish anything that I put my effort and mind into. It taught me to be extremely disciplined with my study habits because of the fast paced, high content nature of the class. Completing organic chemistry was one of the biggest hurdles I have cleared in my undergraduate career, and I use it as a motivational factor because if I got through O-chem, I could get through any other class.

WHO HAS BEEN THE GREATEST INSPIRATION IN YOUR LIFE? My Dad has been the biggest inspiration in my life. He taught me from an extremely young age that there are two ways to do something, the right way and again. He has paved the way for my sisters and I by being an exceptional father and an honest man. One of the greatest gifts that he has given me is the drive to do things the right way in life because it will carry you far. Seeing firsthand how much time and genuine care he invests into his patients sets the bar for any relationship that I make in my life. I didn't realize it at the time, but now I see just how important his lessons were growing up. I appreciate them more and more the further I go in life because he was setting me up for success from the beginning.

THE GREATEST PRINCIPLE OR LESSON THAT I’VE LEARNED WHILE COMPETING IN ATHLETICS AT LINFIELD HAS BEEN… One of the hardest but most meaningful lessons that I have learned in my time as a student athlete at Linfield is that it does not matter what you did yesterday. Whether it was a great performance or a terrible one, it does not matter today because there is a new task at hand. As baseball players we are taught to have short memories, but that can be extremely hard after certain outings, good and bad. Waking up to the sunrise on a new day and striving to get right back to work, no matter the outcome of the previous day is what separates the good from the great. Spence has preached this since my first practice as a Wildcat and its keeps our guys humble. We are continually striving for respect and success every single day which is what makes this group of guys and our coaching staff special. The want/need to work hard is not something that is easily taught, and Spence has instilled it in us as a group.
