SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – Reece Carganilla's sacrifice to right field lifted Bushnell to an 8-7 victory in 11 innings over Linfield on Tuesday evening at Hamlin Sports Complex.
Matthew Lewis and
Brett Joner tied for the team lead with two hits apiece while Lewis knocked Linfield's only home run.
Declan Francis accounted for Linfield's only extra-base hit. The 'Cats (9-14) had seven pitchers touch the rubber in a bullpen game.
Gavin Ludlow and
Logan Travis each faced the highest batters at 10 a piece.
Brian Mannion (1-2) was tagged with the loss.
Albert Jennings, Chase Nye and Reece Carganilla all tallied extra-base hits for the Beacons. Nye and Carganilla tied for the team lead in RBIs with two each. Bushnell (19-14) edged Linfield in total hits 13-10. Trevor Hammond (5-2) earned the win after pitching the final frame in relief.
Linfield surged to an early 4-0 lead after the first two innings. Bushnell responded with four across across the second and third frames. The Beacons' sac fly to score a single run in the fifth was matched by Lewis' solo home run in the eighth.
The Wildcats and Beacons traded runs once again in the 10th inning. Linfield stranded the go-ahead runner in the 11th which was one of 13 runners left on base for the Wildcats.
