McMINNVILLE, Ore. –
Camden Oram's effort on the mound led the Linfield to a game one 3-2 victory over George Fox on Saturday afternoon at Roy Helser Field. The Bruins returned the favor in game two, topping the Wildcats 10-6.
Nick Holm led Linfield with four total hits and has recorded a hit in five straight Northwest Conference games.
GAME 1: Linfield 3 - George Fox 2
Oram (4-3) nearly pitched his second complete game of the season after hurling eight and two-thirds innings and tallying five punch outs to earn the win.
Brian Mannion earned Linfield's first save of the season.
Holm mashed his third home run of the season and led the 'Cats with two RBIs.
Elijah Maris and
Trent Wainfeld each added a hit for Linfield.
Caleb Debban (1-2) was tagged with the loss following a five and two-thirds innings outing. Evan Balingit led the Bruins with three hits while Shane McClendon also tallied two hits. George Fox (16-11, 7-7 NWC) outhit Linfield 9-3.
Linfield and George Fox each plated single runs in the second and fourth innings.
Tyler Marr's throwing error gave the Bruins a short-lived 2-1 edge in the sixth. In the home half of the sixth frame, the 'Cats scratched across two runs with two outs to pull ahead 3-2. In the final three frames, the Bruins total three hits.
GAME 2: George Fox 10 - Linfield 6
Holm totaled three hits while
Jake Hoskins,
Danny Kahn and Maris each added two apiece.
Declan Francis pitched four innings in relief for Linfield. Maris recorded the Wildcats' only extra-base hit.
Noah Meffert led the George Fox offense with a home run, triple and three RBIs. Jeremy Sangalang slapped two of five doubles for the Bruins. Ryder Edwards (1-2) pitched the final two and a third innings and earned the win. George Fox edged Linfield in total hits 14-11.
Casey Struckmeier (0-3) was given the loss after giving up six George Fox runs across the first two frames. The Bruins added four more runs between the fifth, seventh and ninth innings.
Linfield's first run came in the third inning, followed by three passed balls and a wild pitch in the seventh inning as the Wildcats came as close as two runs. The 'Cats loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth but couldn't push a runner across.
