McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Willamette outscored Linfield in three out of the four quarters as the visiting Bearcats topped the Wildcats 18-11 at the Linfield Lacrosse Complex on Tuesday evening.
Gabby Crist led the Wildcats in goals with five as Linfield fired off 30 total shots.
Savannah Irwin was the next closest with two goals while
Maizri Chandler and Crist each tallied two assists.
Tenley Hodge tallied a season-high 14 saves. Linfield was carded on only two occasions while Willamette was shown a card on 10 occasions. On defense, Linfield caused nine turnovers and won 12 draw controls.
Lily Bachiochi scored a game-high seven goals while also racking up five assists. Alyssa Molisee (4) and Cedric Shaw (3) were the next-highest scorers for Willamette. The Bearcats tallied 37 shots while goalkeeper Olivia Austin earned the win after totaling 11 saves. The Bearcats ended with a 21-12 advantage in draw controls.
Linfield held a slight 2-1 advantage after the first period. The Bearcats' offense woke up in the second period as seven goals in the second frame gave Willamette the 8-6 halftime advantage over the Wildcats.
Willamette outscored Linfield again in the third quarter. The Bearcats held their largest lead of the game going into the fourth quarter leading 16-10. The Wildcats were held at bay in the final quarter. Willamette slightly grew its lead by adding two goals as the visiting Bearcats pulled away late.
