McMINNVILLE, Ore. – UMass Boston scored the game's first run and never looked back in a 7-2 victory over Linfield on Tuesday afternoon at Roy Helser Field.
Elijah Maris accounted for the Wildcats' only extra base hit and led the Linfield offense with two total hits.

Bodey Smith accounted for the other Linfield hits.
Casen Reed (0-1) earned his first start of the season and went four and two-thirds innings giving up two earned runs and striking out five batters.
Ethan Hunt (1-0) earned the win in his longest outing of the season, going seven full frames giving up one run and striking out seven Linfield batters. Mike Meagher finished with a game-high three RBIs. Justin Gouve added two hits for the Beacons (4-2). Bostyn Burri and Gouve scored four runs combined.
Mariano Jime's and Aidan Blake's solo home runs in the second and fourth innings gave the Beacons an early 2-1 lead. UMass Boston increased its lead with two more runs in the top of the sixth inning with Meagher driving in two runs off a hit to left field.
The 'Cats and Beacons each scored one run in their halves of the eighth inning. UMass Boston cemented their win with two more runs in the top of the ninth with RBIs coming from Gouve and Elliot Miles.
