Linfield faces Whitworth, Whitman on the road

THE RECORDS
Linfield still has a chance to make the Northwest Conference postseason tournament after splitting last week's contests. The Wildcats sit fifth in the conference at 11-10 overall and 6-6 in NWC play after losing to Puget Sound 58-80 on the road before beating conference leader Willamette 78-71 at home. The 'Cats now prepare for the Whits trip with Whitworth (6-15, 3-9 NWC) coming up on Friday at 6 p.m. Before closing out the trip at Whitman (16-5, 8-4 NWC) on Saturday at 4 p.m.
 
LINFIELD AT A GLANCE
Linfield averages 60.3 points per game which ranks fifth in the conference. The Wildcats rank inside the top three in combined team rebounds (39.1 per game), and tops the NWC in team defensive rebounds (28.4 per game). The 'Cats are the third-best free throw shooting team in the NWC at 71 percent. Gillyan Landis (10.6) and Eve Burke (10.4) pace the scoring effort. Miki Vermeulen ranks third in the NWC in rebounds per game, averaging 8.6. Ella Koebelin leads the 'Cats in assists at 3.1 assists per game and is one of eight players in the NWC with a positive assist-to-turnover ratio. Burke (46%), Landis (44%), Vermeulen (42%) and Allison Mead (41%) all rank among the conference leaders in field goal percentage. 
 
WHITWORTH AT A GLANCE
The Pirates average 58 points per game while giving up 65.7 to their opponents. Kimberly Dewey ranks second in the NWC in points per game, averaging 16.6 with Zalissa Sanfo averaging 8.4. Sanfo tops the conference in rebounds per game at 10. Emma Maxwell shoots over 37 percent from behind the three-point line. On defense, Sanfo is tied for the conference lead in total blocks (61) and blocks per game (2.9).
 
WHITMAN AT A GLANCE
The Blues average 65.5 points per game while leading the conference in the least amount of points surrendered (52.6). Whitman holds opponents to a conference-low 34 percent shooting from the field. Korin Baker leads the conference at 16.9 points per game and averages 8.6 rebounds. Natalie Lundberg ranks among the conference leaders in assists per game at 3.6 and tops the NWC in assist-to-turnover ratio. On defense, Lindsay Drago (26) and Baker (22) rank inside the top five of the conference in total blocks.
 
 
SERIES HISTORY
The Wildcats lost their first meeting against Whitworth 61-57. Linfield is 12-58 all-time against Whitworth, including a 4-27 road record. The 'Cats are 3-7 in the last 10 matchups against the Pirates and are looking for their first win in Spokane since the 2018-19 season.
 
Linfield knocked off Whitman in the season's first meeting in McMinnville 51-45. The Wildcats are 20-52 all-time against the Blues. Linfield is 1-9 in the last 10 matchups against Whitman and holds a 7-28 record in Walla Walla. The Wildcats are looking for their first season sweep of the Blues since the 2001-02 season.
