Wildcats draw with Pioneers in defensive battle

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Linfield Wildcats and Lewis & Clark Pioneers battled to a 0-0 draw in a defensive standoff on Wednesday night at Griswold Stadium. Despite dominating possession and out-shooting the Pioneers 19-4, the Wildcats were unable to find the back of the net.

Linfield applied consistent pressure throughout the match, particularly in the second half, where they recorded 10 shots. Forward Julia Alvarez led the offensive effort with seven shots, including one on goal, while Jocelyn Jacobs and Sidra Griffin added two shots on target each. However, Pioneers goalkeeper Delaney Jones proved to be a tough barrier, making nine saves to preserve the clean sheet for Lewis & Clark.

Playing all 90 minutes of Wednesday's match for the Wildcats were Alexa Fritz, Rae Gerking, Mia Curtaz, Sidra Griffin, Jenna Stanley and Sofia Pietrok. Marley Ells, Kami Echiverri and Jordan Stoner came off the bench in the match.

Linfield's defense, anchored by goalkeeper Alexa Fritz, who made one save, held strong throughout the 90 minutes. The backline limited Lewis & Clark to just one shot on goal, which came in the 40th minute off the foot of Siena Flock. Fritz calmly handled the attempt to keep the match level. Wednesday's match marks the sixth clean sheet of the season for Fritz.

The Wildcats had several chances to break the deadlock, including a 79th-minute shot by Pietrok that forced another save from Jones. Despite earning six corner kicks, Linfield couldn't capitalize on its impressive offense.
