MCMINNVILLE, Ore. - Linfield played a hard-fought 0-0 draw against George Fox University on Friday at Linfield Soccer Complex. Both teams' defenses shone, with neither side able to find the back of the net despite several opportunities throughout the match.
The Wildcats matched the Bruins shot for shot, with each team registering five total shots and two shots on goal over 90 minutes of play.
Goalkeeper
Alexa Fritz was key to Linfield's defensive stand, recording two saves, including a critical stop on a shot by George Fox's Liv Haima in the 6th minute. Friday's match marks the seventh clean sheet of the season for the Linfield Goalkeeper. Fritz's counterpart, George Fox goalkeeper Emily Robey, also notched two saves to keep the Wildcats at bay.
Julia Alvarez spearheaded the Linfield attack with two shots, one of which was on target.
Sofia Pietrok accounted for the other shot on goal.
Marley Ells and
Mia Curtaz each took a shot, rounding out Linfield's five shots. Fritz, Curtaz, Pietrok,
Kami Echiverri,
Rae Gerking and
Sidra Griffin played all 90 minutes of the match for the Wildcats.
Liv Haima led the George Fox offense with two shots, putting one on target. Willa Evans, Alexis Breer and Lindsey Kong each finished with one shot to account for all five George Fox shots.
The Wildcats earned four corner kicks compared to two by the Bruins, but they were unable to capitalize on set-piece opportunities.
