FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Linfield returned to Northwest Conference play but couldn't win its second straight game, falling 4-1 on the road to Pacific Friday at Chuck Bafaro Stadium.
The Wildcats scored first when
Nick Holm notched his team-leading 28
th RBI of the season on a two-out single to center field that scored
Branden Pasion from second base. The first-place Boxers scored four unanswered runs to improve to 19-9 on the season and 16-5 in conference play.
Pasion went 2 for 4 in his third game as Linfield's leadoff batter.
Danny Kahn,
Jake Hoskins and
Cameron Skinner also registered hits for the 'Cats, Skinner ripping his seventh double of the year in the fourth inning.
Tyler Quinn, Ty Yukumoto and Walker Matthews tallied three hits apiece for Pacific, which outhit Linfield 14-6. Yukumoto finished with a pair of RBI singles. Will Clark tossed seven strong innings with five strikeouts to earn the win while teammate Cayden Okada threw two perfect innings in relief to earn the save.
Grant Knox went 3 2/3 innings in his 13
th appearance and first start of the season for the 'Cats. He allowed one run on six hits while striking out three Boxers.
Jackson Koons was hit with the loss after giving up three runs in just under two innings pitched.
Aidan McCann went the rest of the way in a scoreless outing, striking out four.

Linfield (10-19, 6-11 NWC) has fallen into eighth place and is running out of time to make the NWC Tournament. The 'Cats and Boxers will wrap up the three-game series on Saturday with a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
