FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Linfield ushered in a new era of lacrosse as the Wildcats went on the road to beat the Pacific Boxers by a score of 13-4 Wednesday at Hanson Stadium. The win marked the first of head coach
Sarah Dalsey's Linfield tenure.
Linfield went into halftime up 5-3. The Boxers scored the opening goal of the third quarter to trim the Wildcats' lead to one. But the 'Cats scored eight unanswered to put a stamp on their first win of the season.
The 'Cats outshot the Boxers, 35-12, with 22 shots on goal.
Erynn McCurdy and
Maizri Chandler scored three goals apiece to lead the attackers. McCurdy also dished out an assist while Chandler had five ground balls. It was Chandler's first goals since her two-goal performance at Whitworth on Feb. 26.
The nine-point win was the largest lead of the night for Linfield.
Gabby Crist and
Joelle Tran each scored two goals, Crist finishing the game with as many assists. Crist leads the team with 20 goals.
Caity Babcock played the full 60 minutes in goal, making four saves to earn her first collegiate win.
Pacific was limited to just eight shots on goal. Taylor Alclaire scored the first goal of the game. Sarah Pokorny scored the next three for the Boxers.
