McMINNVILLE, Ore. – George Fox started strong and never took its foot off the gas as Linfield lacrosse dropped a 24-8 decision to the Bruins Saturday at the Linfield Lacrosse and Soccer Complex.
The Bruins cruised to a 13-2 lead after the opening quarter and blanked the Wildcats in quarter No. 2 to take a 14-point lead into halftime. The Bruins outshot the 'Cats, 38-15, putting 33 of those shots on goal.
Carleigh DeLapp scored five goals and dished out an assist to lead the George Fox attack. Ava Bluhm notched four goals, three assists and four draw controls while Marena Tharpe and Morgan Maxfield registered three goals apiece. Kyra Barnes did it all on the attack, finishing with two goals, six assists and four draw controls.
Linfield put 14 of its 15 shots on goal. The Wildcats fended well on draw controls in the second half to end the game with 15. The 'Cats were able to cause eight turnovers and held a 6-4 advantage in ground balls.
Gabby Crist continues to provide a boost of energy for the 'Cats. The freshman from Lake Oswego scored four goals and distributed an assist to finish with five points.
Leah Stednick found the back of the net twice while
Elena Kroll and
Erynn McCurdy also scored for the 'Cats. It was Kroll's first career goal.
Grayce Miller caused four turnovers on the defensive end while
Maranda Tucker caused two.
Mackenzie Kulick turned in a game-high nine draw controls.
Emma Webb played the entire game in goal for the Bruins, making six saves to earn the win.
Caity Babcock and
Tenley Hodge rotated in goal for the 'Cats. Hodge came up with eight saves, falling two shy of her season high of 10, set against Alma on Tuesday.
