Team culture starts with the upperclassmen, and four standouts set the tone both on the court and in the classroom in a turnaround season for Linfield women's basketball.

Seniors
Paige LaFountain (exercise science),
Kaylee Schow (mathematics) and
Jordan Worthington (marketing/journalism and media studies) and junior
Peyton Bergevin (elementary education) all earned selection to the 2022-23 College Sports Communicators (CSC) NCAA Division III Academic All-District Team, released Tuesday.
Â
Worthington was a key contributor off the bench to start the season but quickly cracked the starting lineup for 20 straight games to end her senior campaign. She averaged 6.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game and finished the season ranked in the Northwest Conference's top 10 with a 47.1 field goal percentage.
Â
LaFountain saw action in 16 games, starting in two. She totaled 13 points, 23 rebounds, 16 assists, four blocks and two steals. Schow also scored 13 points on the season and will take advantage of another year of eligibility. Bergevin played in all 25 games after missing the entire 2021-22 season due to injury. She scored a season-high nine points at Lewis & Clark on Jan. 13.
Â
A total of 15 women's basketball players representing four NWC institutions were honored. Linfield matched Whitworth and Willamette with its four selections. Pacific Lutheran rounded out the group with three honorees.
Â
The 2022-23 CSC Academic All-District Team recognizes student-athletes for their combined efforts in both athletics and academics. The honorees will advance to the Academic All-America ballot. Academic All-Americans will be announced by the CSC in March.
