McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Linfield faced Lewis & Clark for the final time this season on Saturday afternoon at the Linfield Soccer Complex. The Wildcats and Pioneers were essentially even for 90 minutes with the one exception being a Lewis & Clark converted penalty in the 47th minute. Celeste Schreifels's goal lifted the Pioneers to a 1-0 victory.
The Wildcats finished with five shots, two on goal, six corner kicks and 13 fouls.
Emma Mulligan tallied a save in her second start of the season.
Bella Hanna and
Sidra Griffin each had a shot on goal.
Jenna Stanley played the full 90 minutes for Linfield.
The Wildcats held a 4-2 shot advantage at the end of a physical first 45 minutes. Linfield's
Kathryn Pearson and
Sofia Pietrok were both shown yellow cards.
Lewis & Clark's Celeste Schreifels scored the first goal of the match just over a minute into the second half off a penalty kick. Carson Warfield received her second yellow card of the match and was subsequently ejected.
The Wildcats put pressure on the Pioneers' defense but couldn't find an equalizer.
Lewis & Clark (5-7-3, 4-4-3) finished with six shots, two on goal and 11 fouls. Goalkeeper Sophia Young finished with two saves.
