PORTLAND, Ore. – The Wildcats are still on the hunt for their first road win on the season after losing to Lewis & Clark at Pamplin Gymnasium in Portland on Saturday night. The Pioneers erased multiple Linfield leads to earn a four-set victory 25-23, 25-22, 22-25, 25-13. Linfield now sits at 7-12 and 3-9 in the Northwest Conference.
The Wildcats combined for 39 kills, on a .081 hitting percentage, 70 digs, 33 assists, eight serving aces and six blocks.
Lexi Correa finished with a career-high 13 kills with teammates
Nora Myre and
Ryli Kalahiki each adding seven.
Claire Johnson tallied 30 assists and
Paige Richards led the defense with 19 digs.
The Pioneers' 10-1 scoring run later followed by an 11-7 run sealed a first-set victory for the home side. Lewis & Clark erased an early six-point Linfield lead and totaled 11 set kills to win the second set.
The Wildcats didn't go quietly, grabbing the third set behind 11 kills on a .175 hitting percentage. Lewis & Clark closed the match in the fourth set leading from start to finish and being charged by a .481 hitting percentage with no hitting errors.
The Pioneers (7-13, 2-10) totaled 48 kills, on a .192 hitting percentage, 84 digs, 46 assists and 14 serving aces.
Izzy Willis led the offense with 16 kills followed by teammate Emily Strand with 11. Katie Shimaura led the Lewis & Clark defense with 32 digs while Ruby Kuerschner totaled 36 assists.
