FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Linfield earn its first Northwest Conference road win on Friday night at the Stoller Center in Forest Grove. The Wildcats dropped the first set but won the next three to beat the Boxers in four sets 16-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-13.
The Wildcats combined for 47 kills, on a .219 hitting percentage, 70 digs, 42 assists, 36 serving aces and seven blocks.
Three Linfield players finished with double digit kills, including
Araeya Watanabe (11),
Nora Myre (10) and
Lexi Correa (10).
Claire Johnson tallied 36 assists and
Paige Richards paced the defense with 23 digs.
The Boxers led from start to finish in the opening set and won the first frame behind 14 kills and a .265 hitting percentage. Linfield responded in the second with 13 kills and four aces.
Five more serving aces in the third set guided the Wildcats to the set win. Linfield closed out the match with 13 kills and three blocks in the fourth set.
Pacific (6-16, 2-11) totaled 45 kills, on a .144 hitting percentage, 62 digs, 42 assists and 10 serving aces.
Mara Murphy paced the Boxers with 17 kills. Emily Cheavtharn totaled 36 assists while Danica Nelson led the team with 18 digs. Murphy and Cheavtharn each added 10 digs.
